The “Mitchell — Family” document is a typescript on T. H. Mitchell Sr.’s business letterhead (he was a building contractor in Salisbury, Md.). It was found inside the Mitchell scrapbook of Kathrine Betts Lawshe. Here it’s transcribed (verbatim, including misspellings & oddities) by Mitch Betts. The document is written in the style of a family Bible, and might be a transcription of an older family Bible. The reference to Quantico is probably the village of Quantico in “Old” Somerset County, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
MITCHELL — FAMILY
Thomas Mitchell, with two brothers come over to this Country from England. Thomas was a farmer and located in Quantico, one of his brothers went West and the other went South.
Thomas Mitchell, son of Thomas and Nancy Mitchell, and Cerinda daughter of Henry and Ann Gale, were married March 12th, in the year of our Lord 1828, by the Rev. James Denston.
Allen, daughter of James E. Mitchell and Fannie Slemons, his wife, was born June 6th, 1859.
William Wesley and Justina Mitchell, were united in the bonds of matrimony April 6th, 1870.
Edward Denwood Mitchell, son of William Wesly and Justina Mitchell, his wife, was born Sept. 28th, 1871.
Carvossa Brown Mitchell, son of William Wesley and Justina Mitchell, was born in the year of our Lord Dec. 21st., 1873.
Minnie A. B. Mitchell, daughter of William Wesley and Justina Mitchell, was born in the year of our Lord Oct. 30th, 1878.
Thomas Mitchell, son of Thomas and Ann, _____, was born in he year of our Lord April 16th, 1802.
Cerinda Gale, daughter of Henry and Ann Gale, was born July 23rd, 1811.
Amelia Ann Mitchell, daughter of Thomas and Ann, his wife, was born July 23rd, 1813.

Alexander Francis Mitchell, son of Thomas and Sarah Mitchell, his wife, departed this life Sept. 22, 1843, age seven years and four days.
